“There are flowers everywhere for anyone who wants to see them.”
- Henri Matisse
Agathe Singer is a French artist and illustrator based in Paris, whose work is deeply marked by themes of femininity, beauty, and nature. Her gouache paintings stand out for their boldness and colorful palette. Profoundly influenced by figures such as Matisse, Henri Rousseau, or Frida Kahlo, she aims to capture an essence of vitality, power, and joy in her portraits, while also imbuing them with a palpable tranquility.
Singer also delights in exploring a world filled with fantastic fauna and flora, creating, with each piece, an imaginary garden awash with bright colors and populated with both simple and naïve shapes.
Paris holds a special place in her creations, with the silhouette of its blue roofs inspiring her to sketch urban landscapes imbued with poetry and dreaminess. The Eiffel Tower, visible from her window, regularly emerges in her work as a familiar motif.
For Singer, composition and color are the pillars of her art. The selection of her color palette plays a crucial role in her creative process, often enjoying the challenge of limiting her choices to a few hues. Once the colors are applied through simple shapes and strong contrasts, she indulges in the play of patterns and details, such as adding floating whiskers to a cat to animate the space and breathe life into the scene.
Agathe collaborates for the first time with LE CARTEL in 2024 as part of the group t-shirt exhibition "Paris est une fête" (Paris is a party).
