“You can find out how to do something, then do it, or do something, then find out what you did.”
—Isamu Noguchi
Célia Genevois is a designer artist who delves into the exploration of the connections between digital creation and traditional media. Her creative process typically starts with the drafting of abstract and dynamic sketches, which are then transformed on a computer. These designs eventually come to life, printed or transfigured onto acrylic canvas.
Her work is rooted in the events that punctuate her everyday life, seeking to capture a moment, an emotion, and to bestow upon them form and face. Célia often finds her inspiration in the observation of bodies and their movements, opting for extreme simplification while engaging with abstraction. She is particularly fascinated by the fluidity and transformation of anatomy in contemporary dancers, where each posture reveals a new silhouette, and every flexion suggests a novel composition. The pursuit of their deconstruction thus becomes an endless playground for experimentation. Music also plays a significant role in her creative process, guiding her through successive sketches to the finished piece. Célia enjoys associating her creations with a specific song when unveiling them, to better convey the energy of her works.
In 2024, Célia collaborates for the first time with LE CARTEL as part of the group t-shirt exhibition "Paris est une fête" (Paris is a party)..
