x THE CARTEL
“Only artists and children see life as it is.”
—Hugo Von Hoffmannsthal
A pioneer in graffiti in the late '80s, Eldiablo, an artist who fell in love with comic books and cartoons from his earliest childhood, has long drawn the bulk of his inspiration from his experiences as a young suburbanite, making him a chronicler of urban daily life. He is often credited with being the father of French "Hip Hop Comics."
The slices of life he published in the 90s in the PSIKOPAT magazine laid the groundwork for the LASCARS series, which he co-created with members of his crew (Petits cons de Peintres) and former classmates from the Gobelins school.
He is also one of the creators behind the web series LES KASSOS.
A multi-talented author, Eldiablo is always working on fifteen projects at once. He is a painter, illustrator, comic book artist, director, and screenwriter, but above all, he defines himself as a storyteller, a witness of his time.
Eldiablo now lives in Montreal. A long-time friend of the brand, he collaborates with LE CARTEL in 2024 as part of the collective textile exhibition PARIS EST UNE FÊTE (Paris is a Party).
