“Happiness is always looking at the glass half full and realizing that there is still room to add more vodka”
—Amanda Lear
In the vibrant panorama of street art, KASHINK stands out with a unique approach. For over a decade, she has enriched the streets with bold works, challenging aesthetic conventions and gender norms. Her art, recognized internationally, serves as an unmistakable signature in the graffiti world.
Her career reached a pivotal point in 2013, with her notable participation in the Wynwood Walls and the "Women on the Walls" group exhibition in Miami, alongside Art Basel. This decisive moment opened doors for her across the United States, Canada, Europe, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Thailand, Nepal, Australia, and Latin America, where her brush left indelible marks.
KASHINK is not limited to urban canvases; she also distinguishes herself with a personal approach: for ten years, she has sported a drawn mustache daily, like eyeliner strokes, a gesture that doubles as an artistic statement and a daily performance, as well as a sociological experiment. Through this simple line, she invites dialogue on identity, social constructions of gender, and the rejection of conformity.
Her commitment is also expressed in academic and intellectual settings, through prestigious conference talks such as TEDx, and within renowned universities. Since 2020, she has been exploring immersive performances, combining experimental music with video creation, continuing her exploration of artistic boundaries.
KASHINK, self-taught, prefers creative impulsivity over preparatory sketches. Her multidisciplinary approach embraces a variety of mediums, from installation to ceramics, photography, and video. Residing in Paris, her work is informed by a palette influenced by figures such as Fernando Botero and Gilbert and George, as well as Mexican graphics, her Slavic and Hispanic origins, Pop Art, and narrative illustration. Masks, universal symbols of transformation and mystery, play a prominent role in her inspiration.
Her commitment extends beyond artistic expression; KASHINK is active in issues of sexual identity and gender equality. Her works, populated with colorful characters inspired by Mexican art, skeletons, women, and men with multiple eyes, resonate in international exhibitions, affirming her message of openness and diversity.
In 2015, coinciding with its inception, LE CARTEL joined forces with KASHINK for a mural in Montreal, setting our first milestone. This synergy was rekindled in 2024 during the opening of our Parisian boutique and the exhibition "Paris est une fête" (Paris is a Party). These collaborations reflect the profound symbolism of our shared journey, highlighting the fusion of art and fashion at key moments of our evolution.
